Magnadata were instrumental in developing the first magnetic tickets for British Rail around 16 years ago through the development of an in-house coating facility and magnetic encoding dept.

This was the main focus behind the Queens Award for Technological Achievement awarded in 1989, the first printing company in the UK to receive this award.

Magnadata have been pioneers in magnetics and has offered customers this technology in all formats for many years. Magnadata strengthened its position in May 2002 when it acquired the assets of Spectron Transit Tickets Pty Ltd as part of its long term commitment to this market and makes it the leading supplier of tickets to the transportation market in Australia and around the Globe. The business continues to trade from its St Mary’s base under the new name of Magnadata Pty Ltd. Today Magnadata has representation on all five continents and employs 160 people worldwide, offering customers a wealth of converting knowledge built up over 100 years of trading experience.

Magnetic Electronic Vouchers

Magnadata has developed some of the latest electronic vouchers used by Argos. The vouchers are a magnetic paper ticket, replacing the traditional paper voucher and also the plastic credit card style voucher. There are several clear benifits to the vouchers namely traceability and the unit cost saving.
